FBCW Deacon Qualifications
Please read the following before nominating a deacon.
A Deacon is a man who plays a crucial role in serving the physical needs of the church. As Acts 6 explains, the disciples, while casting spiritual vision, required strong men of faith to assist in caring for the church and its members. This is the essence of the Deacon’s position.
A Deacon at First Baptist Church Woodstock must be someone who lives a life consistent with the Scriptures (1 Timothy 3:1-13, Titus 1:5-9). Please pray, reflect, and ask God if these passages describe the person you are nominating.
We are not looking for perfect men. If we were, no one would qualify. Instead, we are looking for men who, despite their sinful nature, want to give their hearts to God daily and fight against the things that can so easily distract them from Jesus. Perfection? No. Passion for God and His people? Yes.
