Romans 3:28 "Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith apart from the deeds of the law."

"How can a man be righteous before God?" ( Job 25:4)

Apart from faith, biblical salvation becomes an impossibility. Possibly the greatest deception ever spoken is the lie that men and women are capable of making themselves acceptable to God. In one verse Paul eliminates good works, good intentions, rituals, religious exercises or anything else that man can think to do in hopes of bringing himself to God. Essentially Paul makes clear that salvation is of the Lord and humanity adds nothing in a genuine salvation experience. To put it another way:

  • Salvation is not by man's merit-it is by God's mercy.
  • Salvation is not by man's goodness-it is by God's grace.
  • Salvation is not a result of human religion-it is a result of divine relationship.
  • Salvation is not the result of religious exercise-it is the result of a relational encounter with Jesus Christ founded on faith.

It is God's grace that makes faith possible. The most profound power of faith is seen in justification. Justification very simply is the act whereby faith gives a guilty sinner a righteous standing before a holy God. God took justification, something that is a human impossibility, and made it not only possible but simple because of faith.

Jesus help me to understand that I can't be good enough or work hard enough to earn my way into heaven. You love me just the way I am but love me too much to leave me this way. Jesus, I believe you died on the cross for me and by faith I ask you to come live in my heart, forgive me for all I've done wrong, save me. Now, help me to share this with someone and join a good church that teaches the Bible so I can grow in my relationship with you. Jesus, Thank you for saving me now help me to live for you!
