Craig Ormsby Minister of Service Ministries
Ministry Objective (what): Our goal in the Service Ministries is to serve all ministries at FBCW so that the objectives God has laid on their hearts can be achieved. We are one of very few ministries that has the privilege literally to touch each ministry and every member of this great church. Our ministries include:
Biblical Support (why): I was called to FBCW through the Word of God in Genesis chapter 24. Eliezer, Abraham’s chief servant, was selected to find a wife for Isaac. Eliezer followed the directions of his master exactly. He involved God deeply in his journeys and in the selection process. And he achieved results with wonderful success – Rebekah! God told me in 1996 as I was seeking Him regarding the opportunity at FBCW that He wanted me to serve like Eliezer. I desire that our team, the Service Ministries, serve as Eliezer served: placing the will of his Master and others above his own will and desires. As Paul states in Phillipians 2:4 “ …let each esteem others better than themselves”.
Ministry Action (how): Ministry in the Service Ministries is performed by both paid personnel and by volunteers. Whether our servants are paid or are ‘good for nothing’ as Pastor Johnny says, we desire that they serve as unto the Lord. We ask all parties involved in our ministries to confirm that God is in fact calling them to serve with us. It takes a special individual to truly esteem others better than themselves…..they must be Spirit filled and God called. We are blessed with an incredible group of paid servants…..discord, bitterness, gossip, laziness…..are immediately weeded out by the group. We believe in the principal of iron sharpening iron and sharpening is practiced on a daily basis. The Service Ministries Team is comprised of 15 servants in the Custodial, Set up and Event Coordination Ministry; 4 servants in the Food Service Ministry; 2 full time servants in the Safety and Security Ministry along with 5 part-time servants; 2 servants in the Maintenance Ministry; and 2 servants in the Operations Manager’s office.
People Needs (how many): Unlimited. We have multiple opportunities in all areas for volunteers.
