HopeQuest - Our Purpose God's Ultimate Purpose God desires to draw all men into a deep and living relationship with Him through salvation made available by His Son Jesus Christ. From this intimate and abiding relationship with God, we, His children, manifest the glory of God, as we walk in humble dependence and obedience to Him. This walk of intimacy is only possible, as we walk in the power of His indwelling Holy Spirit; and allows our minds to be transformed by the truth of His Word. God’s ultimate purpose is to conform His children into the image of His Son. Difficulties in this life have various origins. All, in some way, can be traced back to the fall of mankind and introduction of sin into our makeup and into our environment. Personal sin or shortcomings may be the cause of one’s difficulties, but certainly not always. Satan, the enemy of God and of our souls, attempts to draw mankind’s worship and attention off God and onto himself, or any other substitute he can use. Satan and his forces use the deception of a fallen world system, and the selfish appetites of our own flesh, to entice us into sin and away from God’s purposes and provisions for our life. All of us have deep longings in our soul — longings for love, acceptance, security, and worth. As we go through life attempting to meet these deep longings in our soul, apart from God or apart from God’s design, we step into the snare of Satan. If these longings go unmet, Satan sows seeds of doubt, frustration, hopelessness and despair into our hearts and minds. If these longings seem to be met apart from God, Satan causes pride, self-sufficiency, self-reliance and idolatry to well up within us. Christian growth (sanctification) is the lifelong process of realizing the sinfulness and futility of attempting to live our lives in our own strength and apart from God. As we turn to our Heavenly Father, as the only one who can meet the deep longings of our soul, we find Him faithful and welcoming of His children. As we grow in the awareness of His presence, we find our love and security in Him. As we grow in the reality of Christ in us, and the righteousness he gives, we find that our longings for acceptance are met in Him. We find fulfillment and worth as we live out God’s purpose and plan for our life. From the fullness that Christ brings, we find ourselves looking beyond ourselves desiring to live our lives for His glory. God, through His Holy Spirit and His Word, grows, strengthens and establishes us. We, naturally, live out the reality that He is faithful and sufficient, because He has made it a reality in our hearts. |
