Orchestra Requirements

To be a member of the FBCW Orchestra one must possess a basic level of proficiency and possess a Godly attitude toward ministry.

A basic level of proficiency refers to two years playing experience or current participation in instrumental instruction.

A Godly attitude toward ministry is defined in two ways:

1. First, one must be teachable! The number of years one has studied on an instrument is by no means the only determining factor as to musicianship of an individual. Nor is it justification for excluding individuals from serving in this particular capacity. I Chronicles 25: 6 - 8 describes the temple orchestra as being comprised of both teacher and student.
2. Secondly, one must be accountable! Though performance can be enjoyable, being a temple musician is primarily and by all scriptural rights a calling. This calling requires consistent attention being given to the improvement of personal as well as corporate studies. Our role is serious in nature because it is defined as leadership within worship. I Chronicles 9:33 describes the duties of an instrumentalist as being so important as to exempt them from other duties in order that there might be measurable daily personal development. As a temple musician, players were held accountable for the use of their time in preparation for worship.

No audition is required!

Service Dress and Etiquette
It is our desire as "temple musicians" to make sure that our outward appearance is as presentable as our inward appearance. Ties and coats for men, dresses for ladies are preferred on Sunday morning. Preferred Sunday evening attire, ties for men, ladies may war slacks, etc. Our sole desire is to create an atmosphere that draws attention only to the Savior. Special event dress includes tuxes for men and tea length black dress for ladies.
