Trolley Ministry

Ministry Objective (what):
This First Touch Ministries are VITAL as they are FBCW’s first touch towards those that God sends our way. The parking lots at FBCW are vast – over 3,000 spaces! Praise God for the crowds that He brings our way each Sunday! Due to these wonderful crowds, many challenges can present themselves: traffic can be hazardous; finding a space can be difficult; visitors may experience great confusion; the handicapped and elderly may have problems finding an appropriate space; and the walks to the church can sometimes be endless… Our First Touch Parking and Trolley Ministries are there to help! We desire to serve so that these challenges are transformed into opportunities. An opportunity to help move traffic along with a smile and a wave; an opportunity to help a visitor or a senior adult or a handicapped individual find the space that they need; an opportunity to find fun and fast transportation to and from our facilities; an opportunity for a friendly “hello” or “see ya next week”.

Biblical Support (why):
In I Peter 4:9 we are challenged “Be hospitable to one another without complaint”.
In Hebrews 13:2 we are exhorted “Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers.”
We challenge each and every one of our servants, whether they are in trolleys or on the parking lot to treat everyone as the Lord would desire us: Be kind, courteous and HOSPITABLE.

Ministry Action (how):
Trolley Ministry: We run four trolleys, one bus and three golf carts each Sunday morning. Two trolleys serve one of our large lots (the South lot) and the two other trolleys and the bus serve the other large lot (the North lot). The golf carts serve our visitor lots. The drivers are trained first and foremost for safety and secondly for hospitality.
Parking Ministry: There are dozens of positions and responsibilities that our parking lot servants fill. Each position has a specific responsibility including: protecting handicap spaces and directing approved vehicles to those spaces; protecting spaces for our Senior Adults and directing them to those spaces; protecting designated VISITOR spaces and assisting visitors; and directing traffic… and many other responsibilities.

People Needs (how many):
There are many opportunities in the parking lot ministry, including traffic director, visitor greeters, and trolley and cart drivers.

Effectiveness:
These ministries are very effective. It is amazing how quickly we are able to get people on and off of our property. Additional servants and especially additional vehicles (trolleys or buses) will be a tremendous help to our effectiveness.
